Hello everyone.

A few weeks ago, I posted a note about our report "Phase 1 - The
Issues,"
which detailed the dominant themes in 21 first-person stories of women
living in poverty in a Canadian community. The second phase of the
project
involved the storytellers developing recommendations for concrete
change.

One unexpected (and welcome) outcome of the project is a book. Titled
POLICIES OF EXCLUSION, POVERTY & HEALTH: STORIES FROM THE FRONT, the
book is
in press now and will be ready for shipping in a couple of weeks. It
contains the 21 stories, the Phase 1 report and the second report
"Phase 2 -
The Recommendations." Like the rest, the women's recommendations
contain
surprises which challenge long-held assumptions about Canada's poor.

192pp. Price: $24.99.

Proceeds from book sales will go directly to the storyteller group to
help
the women act on some of their recommendations.
