REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS
Anti-Racism & Anti-Oppression Trainings/Workshops

ACTT’s Mission statement:

Action for Children Today and Tomorrow (ACTT) is a community-based
coalition invested in “improving the life chances of children prenatal to
six years of age” in East York and East Toronto. ACTT’s membership is
comprised of residents, parents, educators, social services agencies, faith
communities, service clubs, a diverse number of community-based
organizations.

ACTT is looking for an established organization, individual or consulting
team to fulfill expectations and assist ACTT in achieving the key
deliverables of the RFP;

Key Deliverables:

Develop and deliver professional development training and/or workshops from
January to March of 2005 for ACTT community participants and ACTT coalition
members:
A)Build coalition/community capacity and leadership through a process that
is welcoming, understanding, and respectful;
B)Implement equity of access and participation for all communities served;
C)Build diversity competency and enhance personal growth and development
among staff and coalition members in the areas of:
· Accepting and developing responsibility to recognize and address personal
biases, assumptions, and stereotypes;
· Addressing internalized oppression;
· Interrupting racism and discrimination;
· Respecting cultural and individual differences;
· Building individual and agency capacity to address racist incidents;
· Understanding position/power/privilege and self reflection;
D)Strengthen ACTT’s community capacity to address human rights, equity in
community within the community development model;
E) Resolve inter-group conflicts within the coalition and community
committees, as well as strengthening and empowering the diverse communities
involved in ACTT programs and activities.



Selection Criteria:

Completed proposals should include the following detailed pieces:
· Individual or agency profile (including mission, history, clients,
services, etc.). You may include any other information relevant and that
distinguishes you/your agency from other similar organizations.
· A thorough and fully developed work plan related to key deliverables.
· Three reference letters of a similar profile or scope of practice to
ACTT, including contact information and a brief description of services
provided.
· A detailed, realistic budget including expected costs to perform and
complete key deliverables within expected timelines.
· Executive summary of proposal as well as cover letter to ACTT explaining
your interest in this project.
· If selected for an interview, candidates will be expected to prepare a
short presentation for the ACTT hiring committee outlining related ideas,
activities, plans, etc.

Completed proposals should not exceed 5 pages in length plus executive
summary of (maximum) one page.

Completed proposals must be submitted / received by January 7th, 2005, by
4:00 p.m.
