GNYSOPHE and more than a dozen cosponsoring organizations and agencies
invite you to attend the:

2nd Annual "Finding Your Inner Leader 'Aha!' Conference to Promote Public
and Community Health Leadership Development"

The goal of the conference is to inspire and mobilize current community and
public health practitioners and students to lead future efforts to eliminate
health disparities.

The conference is for (1) aspiring and emerging community health leaders,
(2) community/public health faculty and students, (3) mentors and
supervisors of current community/public health workers, and (4) and (for a
special afternoon session) HIV/AIDS specialists.

When: Friday, June 29, 2007 - 9am-5:30pm, Kingsborough Community College,
Brooklyn, NY, an easy subway ride, drive or flight and taxi ride away 

Early Registration Deadline: May 1, 2007

Regular Registration Deadline: June 28, 2007

The all day conference includes:

(1) four plenary sessions with  presentations by four remarkable public and
community health leaders: 

Marilyn Aguirre-Molina of Columbia University
Deputy Brooklyn Borough President Yvonne Graham
Marjorie Hill, CEO, GMHC
Elwanda Young, Sr. VP of the United Way of New York City;

and ...

Learn why we need NEW public and community health leaders NOW
Explore the agonies and ecstasy of community/public health leadership
Decide how to pursue to your leadership interests or foster them in others
Develop an action plan to help yourself or those your supervise get started

(2) a mid-day Conversation with Courageous Leaders

(3) four different tracks of workshops:

A.      Empowering your inner leaderself - for aspiring and emerging leaders
B.      Developing leaders on the job - for current supervisor, mentors, and
leaders
C.      Student leadership development - for students and faculty members
D.      HIV/AIDS leadership development - (pm sessions) for HIV/AIDS
specialists
