I suspect that the fact that the list member was labeled "abusive" and referred to as "you know who" might have triggered the responses from list members as opposed to simply the fact that someone who contributed an inappropriate submission was removed from the list.

Hi all: This is an interesting discussion - i"m glad to see the diversity of views in this online community. I believe that while the individual may be suffering from adverse circumstances, Dennis' responsibility is to moderate the list via principles that we all agreed to when we joined. If he had not acted, there would be a chorus of cries asking 'why not'? I believe he made the right (but difficult) choice.

It is more like a group of nurses sitting together talking about the best practices to take care of infected surgical wounds (Can you tell what I do for living?) and then they notice one of the nurses actually has an infected surgical wound herself and they kick her out of the team because her wound smells.
I would have definitely understood your action if this was on any other group but this one; as I believe we should be more understanding towards others' actions. How can we advocate for others and empower them if can't do it even among ourselves?
The damage is done but I hope we don't exclude those who are passionate about SDOH but might be suffering themselves, be more compassionate about their actions and offer them support and understanding or other resources.

If someone threatens me on the street, I call the cops. The person threatened on this list will not be threatened again on this list. End of story.
