This may not be helpful, since these works are all later than _Roughing
It_, but I've checked for "tabu" and "taboo" in my electronic texts of
_Connecticut Yankee_, _Adventures of Tom Sawyer_, _TS Abroad_, and _TS,
Detective_. There were no hits. I think some people here have an e-
text of _Innocents Abroad_, though. Please let us know what you find.
