Those of you who enjoy fiction featuring Twain as a character might
be interested in _Twice Upon a Time_ by Allen Appel (1988, Dell). I
read it over the holiday break. The novel is the sequel to _Time
After Time_ (also fun, if you like this sort of thing), which
introduced the protagonist, a time-traveling historian. The novels
are very light on the technical, sci-fi aspects of time travel (they're
similar to the Kirk Mitchell and David Carakeet stories in that respect), &
enjoyable because of the situations and characters: Twain, Custer, Edison,
Uncle Remus, the Philadelphia Centennial, and so on. Our university
library has neither novel. I found the first in the local public
library, and bought the sequel as a remaindered paperback (of course,
inter-library loan is another option). In any case....Enjoy!
