 Dear Stephen,
I have used the internet for an introduction to Mark Twain and his
times. I began by doing a search for Twain resources myself. Then I
collected several bookmarks and placed these on the bank of computers at
school. I created a worksheet which I entitled "Mark Twain Search" and
each student was required to search through the pre-set bookmarks for the
answers. I had practical questions like birthplace and titles of major
works, but I also listed bonus questions like "Did Twain serve in the
Civil War?" This assignment was done on the 11th grade level in a public
school. It served to inform the students about Twain, but they also used
problem solving skills and became informed about the internet.
