According to the liner notes for "Mark Twain Tonight!", it was film and not
an audio recording that Holbrook studied. To quote:
"Hal Holbrook spent twelve years researching Mark Twain's voice and
movements, studying rare Edison *film* and using the recollections of
people who knew Twain personally."
