In my forthcoming (Spring 96) book, WEST POINT AND MARK TWAIN, I present some
previously unpublished correspondence between SLC and C.E.S. Wood (who printed
the 1882 version) that traces the clandestine nature of 1601's production at
the military academy. The evidence is clear that SLC was the author.

>Can anyone clarify this for me?
