CSIH - Journal of Health in Development

Last Fall CSIH was approached with a proposal that it consider
publishing a journal of health in development. A committee of the
Board has been investigating this possibility and has developed a
document that presents its ideas for such a journal. The thrust of
this journal is not to compete with existing journals, but to provide
quality information that helps people "do" international health
better, making the links between
health research, policy and field experience.
The committee will take a recommendation to the June Board meeting,
and would like your reaction to the idea. If you
would like to give us your comments, you can find a copy of the

SCSI - revue sur la sante et le developpement
------------------------------------------------------------
L'automne dernier, la Societe a ete invitee a envisager la
creation d'une revue sur la sante et le developpement.
Un comite du conseil s'est penche sur la question et a prepare un
document sur la forme que pourrait prendre cette revue. Il ne
s'agirait aucunement de faire concurrence aux revues existantes, mais
plutot, de creer un outil de diffusion d'informations de qualite pour
aider les praticiens dans leur travail, en etablissant un lien entre
la recherche, l'elaboration des politiques et l'action de terrain.
Le comite de la Societe charge de ce dossier a l'intention
de faire une recommandation au conseil mais il souhaiterait
obtenir auparavant votre reaction. Vous trouvez une copie

Duty Station: Bridgetown, Barbados
Tenure: Two years, first year probationary period
Division/Program/Office: Health Systems and Services Development (HSP)
Basic Salary: $45,413 at single rate, $48,824 with primary
dependents (per annum net of taxes). Post Adjustment: $20,300 at
single rate, $21,824 with primary dependents (per annum net of taxes).
Hardship/Mobility: $2,030 at single rate, $2,706 with primary
dependents (per annum net of taxes).
Minimum requirements:
Education: A university degree in one on the health or
social/behavioral sciences with a master’s degree in a field
related to public health, health administration, public or
business administration.
Experience: At national level: Seven years of experience related to
the planning, organization, implementation, and evaluation of health
services including promotion of the managerial process and aspects of
human resources development.
At international level: Two years of experience in public health
programs and activities at the multinational level.
Languages: Very good knowledge of English with a working
knowledge of Spanish.
