Members of a consortium of the Inter-Agency Working Group on Latin
America (a country working group of the Canadian Council of
Cooperation) are seeking a Coordinator for its work on the theme
"Popular Sector Response to Economic Exclusion".  This consortium
is one of three consortia looking a various themes in Latin America.
The Coordinator will animate the process of taking the work beyond
the development stage; eg., contact with partners in Latin America,
formulation of concrete work plans, elaboration of research
methodology.

Closing Date for Application:  Friday, July 5, 1996 at 12:00
pm.  Starting Date:  Monday, July 22, 1996

The position is part-time (2 days a week) from July, 1996 -
July, 1997.  The preference would be to have the Coordinator work
from home where he/she has access to a telephone, fax, e-mail and
computer.  The position could be based in Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal
or Cobourg.  The interviews and training  will take place in Ottawa
and the Coordinator should be available to come to meetings in
Ottawa when the need arises.  The salary is $15,000.  There is a
possibility that the position could be increased to 3 days a week
in September to include work with another consortium.

Division/Program/Office:  Division of Health and Human
Development (HDP)

Basic Salary:  $45,413 at single rate, $48,824 staff member with
primary dependant (per annum net of taxes)

Post Adjustment:  $13,442 at single rate, $14,451 staff member
with primary dependant (per annum met of taxes).

Minimum Requirements:
Education:  M.D. or Ph.D. degree in one of the health professions
with a postgraduate degree in epidemiology.

Experience:
At the national level:  Seven years of experience in activities
related to the application of epidemiological principles and methods
to health surveillance, health care planning and health policy
development including training and research in epidemiologicmethods.
At the International level:  Two years of experience in activities
related to the application of epidemiological principles and methods
to health surveillance, health care planning, training and/or
research.

Languages:  Very good knowledge of English and Spanish.
