I am also doing a research on newsgroups and listserv. My research involves
joining a listserv and analyze the types of discussions, its tone and history.

So far I have been a silent subscriber and have observed the a warm and
sharing atmosphere as you discuss books, journal on medical issues. However I
would like some assistance in completing my research paper. I would like to
find out who started the group and why? How does such a group profit you or
the subscribers?

Thank you in advance.
