Thanks to all who have shared their letters on this issue...
Here we have an example of a direction taken by a government which is a
threat to healthy public polcy - something we all hope and believe health
promotion can shape and influence.
Do we know what others are doing to organize a loud and strong protest on this.
The letters are strong examples of the rational reasoning and the value of
the prevention and support a pregnant woman can benefit from.
For those outside Ontario bear down..oops I mean bear with me here - :-) I
would like to know the policies in others countries on supports to women who
are pregnant and to hear what you think you can do.
I heard today our government has a new ad in the Economist - appealing to
business - to locate in Ontario. Perhaps the other side of the story needs
to be told and the government needs to hear from people beyond our borders.
I would be happy to be the CC: recipient for any and all emails that get
sent to our Premier Mike Harris - I will summarize and respost the numbers
and content I get - in the mean time let's hear some other things people are
doing.
Health Public Policy is a key plank to a strong health promotion program -
here and elsewhere - I invite you to make the case and build some momentum
on this.
Cheers - Liz Rykert
