Creation of a CSIH Task Group on Students and Young Professionals
------------------------------------------------------------------
The decision was made at CSIH’s last Board meeting on November 9-10, to
form a task group to re-examine the Society’s values and policies
regarding the integration and participation of youth in the Society’s
activities and projects, and to propose strategies for furthering their
effective involvement in Canada’s international health and development
efforts, and more specifically in CSIH. The creation of this Task
Group responds to the need to look at other mechanisms for addressing
the needs and interests of students and young professionals, following
the discontinuation of the International Health Education Program
(IHEP).

The Task Group will be composed of three CSIH Board members, three
students or young professionals, and one CSIH staff (Marc Hyndman). We
ask individuals interested in joining this group to contact Marc Hyndman
as soon as possible. We are looking for people with the following
characteristics:
  CSIH members (students or young professionals);
  demonstrated leadership skills;
  demonstrated interest in, and commitment to, international health and
  development;
  present or past involvement in student-run organizations;
  and, LAST BUT NOT LEAST
  ability and desire to challenge the Task Group with great, innovative
  ideas!

If you meet these requirements, please fax or email us a note by
November 31st explaining who you are and why you feel you can make a
valuable contribution, and outlining a few of your ideas re: ways or
mechanisms by which CSIH can support both effectively and efficiently
students and young professionals.
