THE OFFICIAL CONFERENCE OF THE INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY FOR
URBAN HEALTH

This conference, now in its 4th year, has become the leading international
forum for the discussion of issues relating to urban health. The annual
meeting of the International Society for Urban Health brings together
researchers, practitioners, community members, and policy makers to present
leading-edge research and reviews relating to urban health and to discuss
how to translate research into practice and policy. The past conferences
have had increasing international attendance and representation from a wide
variety of research disciplines. This year's conference has a particular
emphasis on social justice in urban communities and promises to have strong
community representation.

THE INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY FOR URBAN HEALTH

The International Society for Urban Health (ISUH) facilitates the exchange
of perspectives, research methods, and data on the study of disease in urban
areas and the effects of urbanization on health.

Membership is open to anyone interested in the health of urban populations.

Annual Membership costs $150.00 USD ($100.00 USD for students and New York
Academy of Medicine Fellows) and includes a subscription to the Journal of
Urban Health, which is published quarterly. A reduced membership fee will be
available to new members who also register for the conference.

CENTRE FOR RESEARCH ON INNER CITY HEALTH, ST.MICHAEL'S HOSPITAL

The Centre for Research on Inner City Health at St. Michael's Hospital is
becoming recognized nationally and internationally as a centre of excellence
for inner city health research. The Centre currently has 17 research
scientists and a staff of more than 50 research coordinators, programmers,
technicians, and research associates. It is the first research centre of its
kind in Canada whose mission is to improve the health of urban populations
through a program of policy relevant research, with particular emphasis on
the needs of socially disadvantaged and economically deprived groups - a
vision the Centre shares with St. Michael's Hospital.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION OPENS EARLY APRIL 2005!

YOU ARE INVITED TO SUBMIT RESEARCH ABSTRACTS RELATED TO THE CONFERENCE
THEME, PARTICULARLY AS THEY RELATE TO THE FOLLOWING FOCUS AREAS:

. Conceptualizing and measuring social justice
. Environmental justice
. Healthcare availability and access
. Health status of disadvantaged populations
. International perspectives on urban health
. Interventions to improve the health of urban communities
. Models of participatory community research
. Policies promoting social justice

Abstract submission will open in early April 2005. Online submission will be
