The Canadian Women's Health Network (www.cwhn.ca) is
offering free bulk copies (20, 50, or 100) of the NEW
booklet Women and Private Health Insurance for
distribution to your members and networks. (Please note:
This free offer is available only in Canada.)
Women and Private Health Insurance is an illustrated and
easy-to-read booklet, excellent for the general reader.
The booklet examines why private health insurance matters
to women in Canada. Approximately 65% of Canadians have
private supplementary health insurance to cover the costs
of services not covered by Medicare, such as prescription
drugs, physiotherapy, long term care, dental care and eye
care. However, in recent years, Canadians have witnessed
the expansion of duplicate health insurance. This form of
private health insurance covers the delivery of
predominantly private health care services that are
already covered by Medicare. Women and Private Health
Insurance examines why this fundamental change may have
important consequences for women.
