QUALIFICATIONS:

MHSc graduate from a Health Promotion Program or comparable Master's Graduate
level program.

Demonstrated knowledge of trends in consumer health information, health
promotion and provision of health information in low literacy and multi-cultural
formats.

Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to work effectively under
pressure.

Demonstrated ability and experience on personal computers including Word 7.0,
Window'95, Microsoft Office and use of the Internet.

SUMMARY:

As Project Assistant, you will work with volunteers and community groups to
launch the Health Information Express Service.  Investigate the need to provide
consumer health information by alternative methods, ie., via Internet and
interactive computer software.  Carry out appropriate quality management studies
with guidance for the coordinator.  Work with the coordinator to continue to
identify new approaches to evaluate the "components" of the Consumer Health
Information Service and assist with research activities.

You will ensure that Health Extension messages are reviewed, edited/changed by
appropriate "experts" in the community.  Will ensure that the new/changed
messages are recorded and made available to the public in a timely manner.  You
will work with the staff, volunteers and community partners to identify and
develop needed resources for the Consumer Health Information Centre.
