Announcement: Teen health Web site- http://www.cyberisle.org
The TeenNet project, based in the Department of Behavioural
Science, University of Toronto, has officially launched the
CyberIsle web site - http:www.cyberisle.org.
CyberIsle was developed by teens, for teens, and addresses
teen health and social issues in an anonymous, nonjudgmental
environment. Using a harm reduction framework, CyberIsle
gives youth access to current, reliable information about
health issues, teen chat groups, self assessment and guided
change, and health related games.
Over the past two years, the University of Toronto, COMMIT
to a Healthier Brant and the Brant County Board of
Education, as well as 12 collaborating organizations, have
worked with teens from across Southern Ontario on the
TeenNet project . The project is funded by Health Canada
and the Ontario Tobacco Strategy and relies on participation
from schools, educators, parents and teens. What makes this
project unique is the combination high-tech Web site
development, health promotion research and community
participation. The TeenNet project is studying how the
Internet can be used to engage teens in health promotion,
and how the use CyberIsle can impact teen health behaviour
and intention to change.
Please take look CyberIsle and the TeenNet project Web site
