Like a miracle tonic for modern city life, Huck Finn's 21st Birthday
Jubilee http://huckfinn.com offers the relief of an escape to
childhood fun and adventure ... for three whole days on June 13, 14,
and 15 1997!
The Father's Day weekend event, near Victorville, CA is a turn of the
century river festival -- complete with catfishing, raft building, a
big top circus, handmade crafts, and woodchip barbecues. There's more
than 30 hours of country and bluegrass stage music, all beginning at
8am, Friday, June 13th. That's when the big Catfishin' Derby
commences!
The Friday-only derby lasts until 4pm, and it offers a whopping $500
in cash for the five catfish with the longest whiskers. Main stage
entertainment begins at 2 pm, and is headlined at 7pm by the Laurel
Canyon Ramblers. A Country Dance follows at 8pm, then a hot air
balloon glow takes to the skies until 10pm.
Vittles, crafts, and mountain men will be everywhere during the 3
days. Saturday morning starts with an 8am breakfast for all you
campers in the grassy meadows!
Hay rides, egg tossin', the Russell Bros. Circus under the Big Top,
and raft building contests are a few of the adventures in store
Saturday! At noon the excitement of the California State Arm Wrestling
Championships gets under way, and then Saturday night the music
showcase kicks off at 6pm with Lost and Found, the Fox Family, Julie
Wingfield, and the Laurel Canyon Ramblers on the Main Stage!
Father's Day features gospel music at 9am, followed by the
Grammy-nominated Del McCoury Band in an early-afternoon performance.
Rib BBQ's tri tip steak, and corn on the cob can be found in the
Vittles Village, while old-time games like greased-pole climbing,
fence apinting, the Great Western Cow Chip Throwing Championships,
and Injun Joe's Treasure Hunt continue throughout the day.
At 5pm Branscombe Richmond, who stars as "Bobby Six-Killer" in the hit
TV show "Renegade" will light up the main stage with his Renegade
Posse Band! You won't want to miss this exhilirating performance.
Huck Finn's 21st Annual Jubilee offers fun for everyone at affordable
prices. The daily fee is just $7 for adults and $4 for juniors 6-11
years. The little ones under 6 get in free ... which reminds me, the
catfishin' is free too! Plenty of camping is available at just $10 per
night, per unit. You can do even better if you reserve camping for the
whole weekend -- $30 per person includes both the weekend camping and
admission!
The Jubilee is in Mojave Narrows Regional Park, an oasis of trees and
meadow along the course of the High Desert's Mojave River in southern
California. The park invites camping, picnicking, hiking, horseback
riding, boating, and fishing. It's located off the Interstate 15. Take
the Bear Valley Rd. exit and drive east four miles to Ridgecrest Ave.
Turn north, and it's three miles to the park entrance. You can call us
at (909)780-8810 or call the park at (760)245-2226. Remember, the
Jubilee is on June 13, 14, 15 1997... for a special Father's Day
weekend adventure.
