first year probationary period; Division/Program/Office: Health Systems and
Services Development (HSP)/Organization & Management Of Health Systems
(HSO).

Basic Salary: $48,019 at single rate; $51,597 with primary
dependents (per annum net of taxes). Post Adjustment: $7,635 at single
rate; $8,204 with primary dependents (per annum net of taxes).
Hardship/Mobility: $5,577 at single rate; $7,436 with primary dependents
(per annum net of taxes).

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education: A university degree in one of the health sciences with a
master's degree in public health, health services administration or a field
related to public health.
Experience: At national level: Seven years of experience in activities
related to public health, policy development, research and situation
analysis, monitoring of health services systems, information systems,
training, research and/or bioethics.
At international level: Two years of participation in technical cooperation
programs and activities in the areas of health planning, human resources
development, policy and health systems research.
Languages:  Very good knowledge of Spanish with a working knowledge of
English.

Deadline approaching for submission of abstracts for CCIH'97
---------------------------------------------------------------------
The deadline for the submission of abstracts for the Fourth Canadian
Conference on International Health (CCIH) is quickly approaching. Abstracts
must be submitted before June 27, 1997. The theme for this year's
conference is "Women, Health, and Development". It encompasses the
following sub-themes: gender as a determinant of health; reproductive
health; safe motherhood; human rights; addressing violence and creating a
culture of peace; health needs and priorities; economic determinants of
health; and participatory mobilization and empowerment. The 4th CCIH will
be held November 9-12, 1997 in Canada's National Capital Region of
Hull/Ottawa. The Canadian Society for International Health (CSIH) and the
Canadian University Consortium for Health in Development(CUCHID) will
co-host the event. The Call for Abstracts forms and details on the

forum luncheon

development assistance, is seeking a Fundraising events planner and
coordinator. The incumbent will plan, coordinate and execute a booksale and
the Festival of Hope Banquet in collaboration with other staff and

Development and Peace seeks assistant executive director
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Development and Peace, the Canadian Catholic Church's organization for
international development, is seeking an assistant executive director for
its head office in Montreal, Canada. This organization supports projects in
40 countries in the South and conducts education and fund-raising programs
in Canada.

Requirements: master's degree or the equivalent; ten years of management
experience; a solid background in the field of international cooperation;
experience with NGOs; a thorough understanding of the socio-economic,
political, and cultural realities of the North and the South; a keen
interest in gender and development issues; fluency in English and French;
knowledge of Spanish an asset; computer experience.

Responsibilities: support the Executive Director in the general management
of the organization; coordinate the development
of membership and fund-raising; supervise planning for the
organization's three-year program as well as related reports; and
 coordinate links between development programs in the South and
education programs in Canada.
