Post Title: Advisor on Health Systems Development; Level: P.4; Post Number:
4.4034; Duty Station: Bridgetown, Barbados; Tenure: Two years, first year
probationary period; Division/Program/Office: Health Systems and Services
Development (HSP) Org. & Man. of Health Syst. & Services (HSO).

Basic Salary: $48,019 at single rate, $51,597 with primary dependents (per
annum net of taxes). Post Adjustment: $19,496 at single rate, $20,948 with
primary dependents (per annum net of taxes).
Hardship/Mobility: $2,145 at single rate, $2,860 with primary dependents
(per annum net of taxes).

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education:  University degree in one of the health professions or
social sciences with a master's degree in public health, health
planning, health economics, epidemiology, or a related field.
Experience at national level: Seven years of experience related to planning
and/or management of health services, including promotion of
managerial processes in planning, evaluation and intersectoral
coordination with some experience related to health sector reform.
Experience should include health economics for the preparation of
funding options for health services.
Experience at international level: Two years of participation in technical
cooperation programs and activities related to public health planning,
health economics, health care financing, administration or evaluation.

Languages: Very good knowledge of English with a working knowledge of
French or Spanish.

Education:  Bachelor's degree from a recognized university in
humanities, languages, or a health related discipline. Achievement of
a passing score on the PAHO competitive test for editors.
Experience: Five years of experience at a professional level in
writing, editing, and translating technical, scientific material and
in the preparation of manuscripts for publication, one of which was
with an international organization, or seven years of experience at
the national level.

Languages:  A perfect command of Spanish, a thorough knowledge of
English, and a basic knowledge of French or Portuguese.

Canada hosts First World Conference on Breast Cancer
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The World Conference on Breast Cancer will be held from July 13-17, 1997 in
Kingston, Ontario. The conference will, for the first time, bring together
people involved with all aspects of the disease - women fighting breast
cancer, survivors, family and supporters, scientists, physicians,
environmentalists and health care workers from every region of the world.
