Barbara,
Next time you are near Hannibal, I would welcome you in visiting the Mark
Twain Birthplace Shrine in Florida, MO, about 45 minutes away. Not only
will you find friendly folks but you will be able to see the house Mark
Twain was born. We also have an original manuscript of Tom Sawyer, his
carriage, several beautiful pieces of furniture from the Hartford Home,
and the Mark Twain Research Foundation Library. So many people go out of
their way to visit the sites in Hannibal, totally overlooking the other
treasures nearby.
