Salary Information:
Basic Salary: $48,019 at single rate; $51,597 with primary dependents (per
annum
net of taxes). Post Adjustment: $24,586 at single rate; $26,418 with
primary
dependents (per annum net of taxes). Hardship/Mobility: $2,145 at single
rate;
$2,860 with primary dependents (per annum net of taxes).

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education:  A university degree in veterinary medicine or medicine
with a postgraduate degree at least to the master's level in food
microbiology, food science and technology, biochemistry, nutrition or
toxicology or a Ph.D degree in one of these fields.
Experience: At national level: Seven years of professional experience in
food protection programs or activities concerned with normatization and
standardization of Codex Alimentarius, quality control and good
manufacturing practice (GMP), as well as microbiological and chemical
analysis of food, food safety and research. Experience should include
management, planning, organization, implementation and evaluation of
contaminants control programs, laboratory programs and national or
international reference services, research and training in food
protection.
At international level: Two years of experience in technical
cooperation projects and activities concerned with planning,
organizing and implementing food protection and food contaminants
control programs, laboratories for food safety and research on food
safety and quality control.
Languages: Very good knowledge of Spanish or English with a working
knowledge of the other.

Sarajevo hosts International Workshop on Medicine, War and Peace
---------------------------------------------------------------------
An International Workshop on Medicine, War and Peace will be held
September 22-26 in Sarajevo. The workshop is being organized by
the Bosnian and Herzegovinian Medical Students' Association in
collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine at the University of
Sarajevo and the International Federation of Medical Students'
Associations.

The workshop aims to: equip future doctors with appropriate knowledge
and skills on the medical and non-medical effects of war and to define
their professional responsibility in conflict situations and role in
prevention of human rights violations; to discuss medical treatment and
its obstacles in war situations, primarily based on experience from war in
Bosnia and Herzegovina; to update medical students' knowledge of
international humanitarian law and its obstacles and problems in an armed
conflict situation;
to develop international cooperation among medical students from
all over ex-Yugoslavia and the rest of the world.

An international meeting on "Health Crisis and the Internet: Harnessing the
Power
of the Internet for Disasters and Epidemics" will be held November 18-21,
1997 in
Santa Fe de Bogota, Colombia. The meeting is hosted by the World Health
Organization (WHO), the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), and the
Ministry of Health of
the Government of Colombia.
