  PROJECTS MANAGER

  ONTARIO PHYSICAL AND HEALTH EDUCATION ASSOCIATION (OPHEA)

     The Ontario Physical and Health Education Association (OPHEA) is an
     incorporated not-for-profit organization that exists to positively
     influence the lifestyles of Ontario's children and youth through the
     provision of quality leadership, advocacy and resources in the area
     of physical and health education. OPHEA provides services to a
     variety of individuals including elementary and secondary school
     teachers, public health professionals, child care educators and
     recreation leaders, and works closely with provincial government
     ministries, corporations, and other not-for-profit organizations.
     OPHEA is currently celebrating it's 75th anniversary.

     Located in Toronto, the Projects Manager will be responsible for the
     day to day management, supervision and execution of all projects on
     behalf of the organization. The manager will supervise approximately
     ten full-time/contract staff, support volunteer committees, and
     manage the development and execution of more than ten on-going
     projects. This position assists the Director in the planning process
     of projects.

     Duties and Responsibilities:
     * Manages the implementation and execution of all projects for the
       association
          + coordinates resources within projects to ensure successful
            execution of the project
          + manages communications both internal and external as they
            relate to projects
          + manages workplan development to ensure all activities are
            accounted for
          + manages external consultants to ensure effective
            communication between internal and external teams


     * Manages the financial responsibilities for the projects department
          + prepares and monitors budgets to ensure projects are on
            target and within budget
          + develops, prepares and allocates the monthly working budgets
            for projects staff

     * Manages the human resources responsibilities for the project
       department
          + manages orientation, placement, and training of projects
            staff
          + monitors staff workloads on a regular basis providing day to
            day direction and support
          + manages recruitment of projects staff



     Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:
     * post-secondary education in business or related field
     * 2 to 5 years management experience
     * Knowledge of the sport and recreation, health promotion and/or
       physical and health education fields
     * experience working in the not-for-profit sector
     * experience dealing with the corporate and government sectors
     * project management experience
     * experience in promotions, marketing, public relations and sales
