Last December, ParticipACTION closed its doors because of  insufficient
resources to continue. Shortly after, Russ Kisby, ParticipACTION's long-time
President, became ill with terminal cancer. The fascinating 30-year history
of Canada's first and foremost social marketing agency has never been
documented in print. The ParticipACTION story  remains untold, except in our
common memories about the 60-year-old-Swede and the occasional re-run of
other ParticipACTION ads that we see on late night television.

With the support of the Canadian Public Health Association, a group of
ex-staff members and friends of ParticipACTION are planning to document the
story and the lessons learned in a supplement to the Canadian Journal of
Public Health. We are seeking corporate or foundation sponsorship or
donations from friends of ParticipACTION to help cover the costs of
translation and production. Charitable receipts can be issued.

At this time, we would greatly appreciate suggestions for potential
sponsors, as well as contact names and their coordinates.

We would also welcome your stories, memories and comments about your own
experiences with ParticipACTION, its operation, events and messages.

Chers amis, En décembre l'an dernier, ParticipACTION a dû fermer ses portes,
son financement étant devenu insufisant. Peu de temps après, on a
diagnostiqué un cancer à Russ Kisby, qui fut très longtemps le président de
ParticipACTION. Les trente ans d'histoire passionnante de la première et
plus importante agence de marketing social n'a jamais été éditée. L'histoire
de ParticipACTION demeure inexistante, à l'exception de celle, dans nos
souvenirs, du Suédois de 60 ans et de quelques messages d'intérêt public qui
passent encore à l'occasion, tard le soir, à la télévision .

Avec l'aide de l'Association canadienne de santé publique, certains anciens
employés et des amis de ParticipACTION ont décidé de réaliser cette histoire
avec tout ce qu'elle nous a appris, dans un supplément de la Revue
canadienne de santé publique. Nous recherchons des commandites auprès des
entreprises ou des Fondations, ou des dons des amis de ParticipACTION afin
de nous aider à couvrir les frais de traduction et de production. Nous
pouvons émettre des reçus d'impôt.

À cette étape-ci, nous apprécierions beaucoup vos suggestions de
commanditaires potentiels, avec les noms et références des personnes à
contacter.

Nous serions aussi heureux de recevoir vos histoires, souvenirs et
