Dear Click colleagues, I received the letter below from the Society for
Nutrition Education listserv. Since the request is for materials in the
more general health promotion area, I'm forwarding it on. Mary

Dear colleagues:

In my office I receive many requests for publications. However,
sometimes I receive ones that are really outside the realm of what we
have available. I'm taking the liberty of posting this person's
letter in the hopes that someone might have something they'd like to
donate to this library in the Dominican Republic. Although the letter
is written in English, I suspect he'd be especially grateful for
materials in Spanish. If you or one of your colleagues wish to help,
please reply directly to him by mail.

I don't know this individual personally but am impressed by the care
he took to write the letter and assume that the need is legitimate.

Best regards,
Laurie

Dear Friends:

Hope you are all doing great in all your endeavors. We are writing to
you to ask for your collaboration with our library. We are a non
profit institution in the process of formation and our economy is in
chaos. Therefore, our only hope of ever succeeding in this endeavor
is the support from institutions with a heart like yours. So far, we
are happy to say, the support has been great. But we are just getting
started and are far from having an adequate collection of books even
by the lower of standards.

One thing we are desperately needing is informational/educational
material geared to improve the health of our families. We need
material to address the following areas: infectious diseases (HIV),
venereal diseases, drug addiction, family planning that stresses
pregnancy prevention rather than abortion, material for teenagers,
family and marriage relationships, parenthood, and the like. Since
many people in our area are unable to read, we also need Spanish video
tapes.

....We are appealing to you to please donate any of the above material
or at least to please let us know of any other organization that may
be able to contribute. We would greatly appreciate your help. Thank
you for taking the time to read our request.

Cordially,
Manolo Patrocino Tejeda
