*** Attention high-speed modem pool users ***

CCS Netops has completed upgrading the following modem pools to support
connection speeds up to and including 33.6 kbps;

1) 736-6002 general access pool
2) low contention modem pool
3) private modem pool
4) Faculty of Education modem pool

The 736-6001 and 736-5258 modem pools remain unchanged.

The International Standards body (ITU-T) ratified an amendmant to the
V.34 standard in October of 1996 allowing the maximum link speed to be
increased from 28.8 kbps to 33.6 kbps.

Users should note that this standard in no way guarantees 33.6 kbps
connections.  Connection rates are subject to the inconsistancies in the
public telephone network and compatibility issues between modem
manufacturers.
