In response to the concerns raised by the York community, CCS will defer
the implementation of the proposed limit of 40 hours on the high speed
modem pool for this academic year.  This will allow time for further
consideration of the ramifications to academic programs, provide a
chance to gather better data on usage and to consult more widely with
the community on proposed changes to the Internet access service.  We
also understand that changes such as this need to be announced well in
advance of the academic year so that accurate information is included in
course kits and other student literature.
