A Notice From the Canadian Society For International Health:  Interim Executive Director Position
--------------------------------------------------------
The Canadian Society for International Health (CSIH) will soon be conducting a search for a new Executive Director.  Over the shorter term, CSIH is seeking an Interim Executive Director effective 17 November, 1997 for an expected period of 3 to 4 months.  With an annual budget in excess of $2 million, CSIH is active in several capacities.  These include: 1) serving as the technical representative in Canada for the Pan American Health Organization; 2) managing health reform projects in Ukraine and Bolivia; 3) networking among professionals and organizations active in health in development; 4) advocating for international health; 5) conducting the Canadian Conference on International Health; 6) managing the International Health Youth Internships Program; and, 7) supporting Divisions of Tropical Medicine and Higher Education and Research.  The interim executive director will be responsible for facilitating the continued operation of these and other activities of the Society, supporting the planning process for the development of new initiatives, and assisting with the transition to new leadership.

Applicants should possess a master's degree, have senior management experience that includes personnel and finance, and have participated in human development projects overseas.  Bilingualism is an asset.  It would be useful for the successful applicant to have experience with, or knowledge of, some of the following: health in development, the Canadian health system and its resources, international funding agencies, managing human development projects, and voluntary sector senior management.  This is a three-day per week position.  Salary is competitive and will be commensurate with experience.
