There was a major problem with the Meridian telephone
switch on Friday evening.  This is the phone switch
that services
the residence phones on campus.  As a result of this
problem, the
modem pool accessed by residence users was out of
service
for the whole weekend.  Users dialing 6001/6002 from
residence phones
received a ring-no-answer condition until approx. 10:00
Monday morning
when the problem was repaired.
This problem should not have affected users dialing in
from off-campus.
