Rotary Club of Calgary Seeks to Donate Used Hospital Equipment to Developing Country

The Rotary Club of Calgary has purchased used hospital equipment from the closing of the Calgary General Hospital. This is basic equipment such as beds, tables, gurneys, carts of various sizes, trays, basins, basic surgical trays, etc. None of it is electrical requiring expensive technical maintenance or parts. The Club is now looking for potential health care sites in the developing world where this equipment could be donated. Call For Papers, International conference on Vietnamese Studies and the Enhancement of International Cooperation

To take place July 5 -17 1998 at the International Convention Centre, 11 Le Hong Phong Street, Hanoi, Vietnam. This conference is jointly organized by the Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) and the National Centre for Social and Human Sciences
in Vietnam (NCSHS), with professional and technical assistance from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT), Australia, and principally sponsored
by the Ford Foundation. The conference aims to present research work on Vietnamese studies carried out locally as well as overseas in order to understand Vietnam more and enhance the international co-operation. It also
aims at creating an international mechanism to co-ordinate and assist the study of Vietnamese language and Vietnamese studies. The organizing committee invites the submission of papers to be considered for presentation at the conference. All papers selected for

Post No. 97/101-E Public Health Administrator (post of limited duration)Official Station: Kathmandu, Nepal, Regional Office for South -East Asia (SEARO), WHO Representative Office. Qualifications: Degree in medicine or health related science with postgraduate degree/training in public health administration. Good knowledge of planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating of primary health care at district and peripherial levels. Ability to establish good working relations with national and international staff. Willingness and physical ability for field work in a remote mountain district which involves long distance walking. Computer skills. Additional qualifications in health planning, epidemiology and/or tropical medicine or reproduction health desirable. Experience: 8-10 years experience in the organization and management of health systems based on primary health care at the national, district and community levels. At least 5 years working experience in international health, especially in developing countries. Good working knowledge of English. Nepali language will be an asset. Annual Salary(net of tax): US$ 56 664 at single rate and US$ 61 090 with primary dependants. Post Adjustment: 14.6% of the above figures.
