Recruitment Agency needed for Smoking Cessation Focus Groups

Toronto Public Health is seeking a focus group participant recruitment agency to recruit participants for a focus group research project. Potential participants will be screened by the recruitment agency to ensure eligibility criteria are met.

Toronto Public Health is conducting a research study designed to better understand the role that physical activity plays in the prevention of smoking relapse among mothers who have had a baby within the past year, who were former smokers and quit smoking during their pregnancy. Participants for this study will include mothers who resumed smoking after birth of their baby as well as mothers who continued to abstain from smoking after birth of their baby.

The selected agency will work with Toronto Public Health to recruit participants and ensure demographics and numbers needed are met.

The successful agency is required to:

1. Recruit sufficient number of participants to ensure 6 focus groups of 10 participants.

2. Work with Toronto Public Health staff to ensure that appropriate eligibility criteria for participant involvement are met.

3. Screen participants for eligibility, administer consent, demographic questionnaire and arrange attendance at the focus groups.

The proposed budget should not include costs of honorarium paid to participants for their involvement. Interested agencies should send their proposal and/or letter of interest to Romilla Gupta, Toronto Public Health, Fax: (416) 392-0635, 277 Victoria Street, Suite 202, Toronto, Ontario, M5B 1W2 by 4:30 p.m. September 30, 2003.
