The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's
Executive Program for Health and Population
in Developing Countries (EPDC), invites your
inquiries into our:

        * MPH/MHA degree program

        Journal of Health & Population in Developing Countries.

The EPDC is a collaborative program between the
School of Health Policy and Administration at the
University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill School of
Public Health, and the Indian Institute for Health
Management Research (IIHMR) in Jaipur, India.

The EPDC MPH/MHA degree program
-------------------------------

The EPDC is an off-campus degree-granting program, taught primarily in
Jaipur, India. The
program grants the Master of Public Health and the Master of Health
Administration
degrees to mid-career health professionals interested
in international health. This collaborative program of
the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the Indian Institute
of Health
Management Research in Jaipur
has received support from USAID, UNFPA, The Rockefeller Foundation, WHO,
and others. It is
ranked first in the country by NUCEA.

The Program focuses on management, system analysis and leadership;
courses are taught by
UNC faculty, in English, in intensive two-week modules.  Non-degree
students can take these
two-week courses as workshops.

The Program also offers graduate students the opportunity to take a
semester (or more)
abroad in Jaipur. This study abroad program is open to graduate students
at Chapel Hill's
School of Public Health (at no additional tuition cost) and to graduate
students at other
Schools of Public Health around the country at the regular semester
tuition.

Internet Course on the Evaluation
of Health & Population Programs

        * Internet-based course allowing participants
        to earn credit towards an MPH/MHA degree without
        interrupting their current work/studies

        * 3-credit course spanning 2 months of part-time study.
        (February 15, 1998 to April 15, 1998)

        * Requires a total of 120 hours of work, or 2
        hours daily

        * For managers or other professionals involved
        with program evaluation - participants must have
        reliable access to the internet.

Journal of Health and Population
in Developing Countries

This new interdisciplinary semi-annual journal is devoted to policy and
management issues.
Its overall character is marked by serious, responsible, and readable
scholarship for
system improvement in health and population programs in developing
countries.

The journal publishes articles of the following types, with preference
given to those
having broad appeal, wide applicability, and immediate usefulness:
        * results from empirical research
        * new and exploratory conceptual models
        * carefully constructd and reflective position papers
        * conceptually grounded discussions of methodology
        * discussion of social issues related to health and
population program
management
        * comprehensive literature reviews
