Hello All-
I am new to the Mark Twain Digest, though I am not new to Sam
Clemens!
A year or so ago, I purchased a wonderful book entitled: "Mark Twain:
Selected Writings of an American Skeptic", by Victor Doyno (Prometheus).
(I am not being paid or anything to plug his book, although I highly
recommend it.) This book contains excerpts from most of Clemens' works
that illustrate his cynicism. The last unit is on "Posthumous
Publications", and the last chapter is on the "Unpublished
Autobiographical Dictation". Doyno states that this was entitled plainly
"Autobiography", and in 1906, June, he finished the book and wrote:
"Not to be exposed to any eye until the edition of A. D. 2406. S. L.
C."
Doyno then states that the full sequence is available at the "Mark
Twain Papers in Berkeley, Califrnia, and will someday appear in a full
edition of the 'Autobiography.'" Now, I have searched every bookstore,
and have found a book by SLC entitled "Autobiography", however it is
just a plain dictation of his life. However, the excerpts I have in the
book do not seem to be in the books I have found. One excerpt is dated
"Wednesday, June 20, 1906" (which happens to be my birthday!) and talks
about the "defects about Bibles". Has a collection of the full
autobiography been published yet? If so, where can I find one. I am very
eager to read the full text. Please contact me at

link listed below).
Thank you in advance for any help,

David Gershon Leventhal
