On tonight's All Things Considered on NPR, there was a brief commentary
on the Hartford Ballet Company's new version of the Nutcracker Suite" dubbed
American Nutcracker." Didn't catch all the names, but apparently the
wanted to Americanize the ballet and some one said he should put Mark Twain
He couldn't figure out, I gather, how to make Twain a character but was
instead to set the ballet in the Wild West.
Don't know if there is more to the story in the way of Twain, but someone up
Harford might be able to help, espcially since the piece was written up in
Olde Hartford Current.
