The UNI Program
----------------
The UNI Program (A New Initiative in the Education of Health
Professionals: Partnership with the community) is a cooperating
effort between the university, the health services and community
organizations. Supporting synchronic change processes, UNI's
objective is the integrated development of innovating models and of
leaderships. New teaching models, new local health system models,
new forms of community action, for the development of better
professionals and for better health service rendering. New
leaderships to develop, institutionalize and disseminate the
models. Through 23 projects in 11 countries, the UNI ideal is
being socially constructed, in theory and in practice, undertaking
pledges and contributing to the reforms necessary for the
educational and health sectors of Latin America and the Caribbean.

Attention Readers from the Peel Board of Education...

H.J.A. Brown Education Centre
In honour of the 50th anniversary of the United Nations, we are
holding a model United Nations for secondary school students. Our
focus is "Do we still need the UN?" The event takes place on
October 24 at the HJA Brown Education Centre in Mississauga.
Specialists in the field of international development / foreign
affairs are invited to participate in this event, either as a
speaker or group facilitator, or in any other way you feel is
appropriate. The students will surely benefit from your expertise.

Medical Professionals needed in Ghana
--------------------------------------
At the moment, Aninwah Medical center (AMC) in the village of Emena
in Kumasi, Ghana is in desperate need for:
1. Medical ultrasonographer
2. Obstetric/gynecologist
3. General surgeon
4. Opthalmologist
5. Nurse Educator
A round trip airline ticket will be provided. In addition free
accommodation will be available and a monthly salary consistent
with the salary scale in the country will be paid to the successful
candidate.
AMC has enjoyed the services of many volunteers from CESO, but in
view of the recent budget cuts the volunteers had to leave
prematurely and this has left an area of more than 200,000
population without an ultrasonographer.
