Hello CLICK4HP list members!

We now number 507 members on this list - a large number of people from
around the world. As with all electronic mailing lists, either
discussion or information focused, it is always useful to remind list
participants of some tips to participating and 'listening' in this
forum. So, as one of the three list-owners and facilitators of CLICK4HP,
it seems timely to do some general list management suggestions.

Recently there have been several messages that appear to have been
intended to be sent to individuals, and have accidentally been
distributed to the entire list. This accident happens very easily when
you see that a message has come from a person that you know; and it is
assumed that simply "Reply"ing to the message will reach that
individual. It does NOT work that way on e-lists! This message for
example, has come from me, Alison, and then gone to the List-Server at
York University, where it is automatically distributed to all the
members who are subscribed (some of whom have chosen to get their
messages only once a day in Digest). On the header, it may appear to
have directly from me - but if you were to 'reply' to this message, the
actual address will be the list, and many people will receive an email
message they may not want.
*** Before Sending a message to an E-List, be sure to check the
Address/To line ***

Other useful tips:

To change your subscription options or to get a list of all the
non-concealed members of the Click4HP list - send an email message to
the List-Server computer [a different address than the one used to post
messages]. The email address is: [log in to unmask]

Some useful commands [always leave the subject line blank and do not put
anything in the message besides the command]

SET CLICK4HP DIGEST [to receive only 1 message a day with all of the
messages that might be posted in one day]
SET CLICK4HP NO DIGEST [to receive messages as they come in]

REVIEW CLICK4HP [to see a listing of all members of the list]
SET CLICK4HP CONCEAL [to hide your name from the review list]

SUBscribe CLICK4HP FirstName LastName [all you need is SUB for the
subscribe command]
UNSUBscribe CLICK4HP [name is not required]

If your email address changes, you may have your list subscription
forwarded to the new address but you would not be able to post to the
list unless you resubscribe. If you are unable to unsubscribe because
your address has changed - contact the list facilitators to request that
this be done. To contact list-owners/facilitators either send an email
to [log in to unmask] OR
Alison Stirling - [log in to unmask]
Liz Rykert - [log in to unmask]
Sam Lanfranco - [log in to unmask]

Keep those messages coming!

Alison
