COORDINATOR OF PROGRAMS AND SERVICES
YOUTH LIFESTYLE CHOICES - COMMUNITY UNIVERSITY RESEARCH ALLIANCE (YLC - CURA)
This is a 3 year contract (with the possibility of renewal).
The YLC - CURA represents a strategic partnership between a number of
Community Organizations in the Niagara Region and the faculty and students
at Brock University. CURA is committed to developing a better understanding
of resiliency and youth lifestyle choices.
Reporting to the YLC - CURA Co-Directors, the Coordinator will participate
in the development, maintenance and evaluation of all CURA research
projects, as well as related grant writing activities. The Coordinator will
monitor and evaluate the daily operations of the CURA, including the
supervision of the Program Assistant. The Coordinator will also arrange and
evaluate student placements, develop and maintain the CURA website, and
attend working group and advisory meetings as required. Additionally, the
Coordinator will be responsible for the dissemination (multimedia) of all
CURA reports including professional development activities, conferences,
research reports and publications. The Coordinator will facilitate
partnerships between University and community members and will network with
the media and other organizations on behalf of CURA.
The position will be of interest to individuals who enjoy working
independently, carrying out all aspects of the research process and
communicating between community and academic settings. A graduate or
advanced degree in Health or a related discipline, which includes the
completion of an Honours research thesis is preferred. The position also
requires several years of community experience, preferably working in the
youth and/or health care sectors. The successful candidate must be
thoroughly conversant with word processing, computer graphics, HTML and
other internet software. This individual will also possess a thorough
understanding of research methodology and data analysis techniques as well
as excellent communication skills.
