 ... at the risk of engaging in a debate over professional beliefs
which I just questioned the value of ...
I chose nutrition because I am an intelligent & thoughtful individual
with a strong drive to work towards promoting human health.  Your
comments seem to suggest that I have, & the public at large, have
somehow been "duped" into believing that nutrition is important by
people with "vested interests".  Nutrition has a high profile not
because of "invested resources" but because it is important to
human health.  Are other things as important - absolutely - & I have
repeatedly recognized that fact.  What I am saying is that we all
need to do the same & work together rather than against one
another.  I do not agree that we need to step back from our
professional positions but rather express them to one another &
find the common ground.  Only by doing this will we move beyond
this point of being "stuck" in an old debate.  It reminds me of the
mudslinging that occurs during political campaigns - is that how we
want the field of health promotion to be viewed?
