With the Canadian Public Health Conference starting on Sunday in Ottawa
and going until the 21st, then Health Promotion Ontario one day conference
on September 30th in Toronto, it certainly feels like the conference
season is upon us. Here's three conferences of interest to health
promoters, all happening in the last week of October in 3 different places
- Nova Scotia, Toronto and Montreal. Share your news about upcoming

Forum 2005 Building a Healthier Atlantic Canada through Health Promotion &
Prevention Research
October 25 & 26, 2005
Pre-Conference Workshops October 24, 2005
White Point Beach Resort (near Liverpool) Nova Scotia

Goals of the Forum:
* to launch the new Atlantic Networks for Prevention Research
* to showcase research in illness and injury prevention and health promotion
* to stimulate dialogue among people who do research and those who use it
* to develop research ideas and research teams to work with the ANPR

Themes:
 Assessing the health effects of social settings, such as schools,
communities and workplaces
Knowledge Translation:  Influencing policy and practice through research
Registration: Early Bird Rate Before Sept 19/05 $250, after Sept 19 $325
(all meals are included with the registration fee)

Scholarship Opportunity 51: Ontario HIV Treatment Network (OHTN)
The Ontario HIV Treatment Network (OHTN) is offering scholarship support
for up to 25 community members from the HIV sector to attend the 4th
International Conference on Urban Health. Scholarships may be used to
cover the cost of conference registration, travel, and accommodation. The
new due date for applications is September 16, 2005.

The 5th Canadian HIV/AIDS Skills Building Symposium
Embracing Diversity, Challenging Inequality
October 27-30, 2005
Delta Centre-Ville, Montreal, Quebec

The 5th Canadian HIV/AIDS Skills Building Symposium, a project of the
Canadian AIDS Society, presents a unique opportunity for interactive
learning, skills training and networking to strengthen our nation’s
community-based response to HIV/AIDS. Skills 2005 features cutting-edge
workshops and presentations under eight learning tracks.

To be attended by over 800 participants, Skills 2005 is a national
bilingual event with workshops taking place in both English and French,
and with on-site translation.

Registration Deadlines & Fees
Registration fees include access to 80 plus workshops and panels, over 20
poster presentations, networking rooms, Youth Institute, exhibit hall,
self-care centre, people living with HIV/AIDS wellness room, refreshment
breaks and internet café.
