Peter,
I can see how sincere you are and I thank you. I hope to respond to your
post at some point with the time that you gave to it and I really
appreciate the chance to talk.
It may help people to understand what my concerns are if I share with you a
personal story. I am not sure if you say the Star thing (I can send it if
you like), but I showed it to my son, who is 13 years old.
His response was "But mom, do you REALLY have experience living in
poverty?"
As a mother and a sole support one who has struggled very hard this brought
tears to my eyes. This is the most important outcome we want, we do not
want our children to think that they are poor, we will give up almost
everything to make sure that is what happens. That is why we choose to pay
ALL the school fees no matter what. Maybe, that is an outcome that does
not fit within the work that you are doing. Maybe that is an outcome that
is too costly to accomplish. I would hope that you would take a moment to
ponder it.
I hope to respond more, it is a very busy week for us in Ontario with the
welfare reform coming down.
Sincerely,
S
