The OPHA Heart Health Resource Centre (HHRC) has a mission to promote and
support the capacity of public health agencies and their community partners
throughout Ontario to undertake effective multi-risk factor heart health
programming.
The OPHA Heart Health Resource Centre has an opening for a one-year contract
position from January 2003 to January 2004 for the position of: Manager,
Heart Health Resource Centre
The HHRC Manager leads a team of three people and is responsible for the
planning, strategic development and implementation of existing and new
support initiatives of the HHRC. This includes the co-ordination of all HHRC
and complementary contract activities, including the provision of
comprehensive support to the Ontario Heart Health Projects, co-ordination of
resource development and dissemination initiatives, implementation of
communication strategies in addition to management, administrative and
reporting responsibilities. The Manager of the Heart Health Resource Centre
also plays a leading role in resource system planning and representation of
the Centre at a provincial and national level.
The successful candidate must have a post graduate degree in health
promotion or a related discipline and excellent organizational, health
promotion and project management experience, combined with a sound working
knowledge of provincial heart health strategies and programs. An
understanding of government, as well as public health, adult education and
community development is important. Excellent communication and
interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a wide variety of people
are essential for this position. Bilingualism would be a definite asset.
Location: Toronto, with periodic travel
