Hello,

Thanks for the questions Anitra - I hadn't explained the CHNET-Works 'Fireside Chats' or webinars very well, or the use of the URL/web link shortener.
Anyone interested in this free teleconference and web-based seminar can find additional information about it, and register for it at either:

http://www.chnet-works.ca/index.php?option=com_rsevents&view=events&layout=show&cid=82%253Acdpacphac-chronic-disease-prevention-series-webinar-1-childhood-obesity-prevention-&Itemid=6&lang=en

or the shorter version (using the URL shortener called www.bit.ly)at
http://bit.ly/mO1gj9
[the above shortened URL goes to same place as long one - just easier to use]

Select Register on the right box or frame, OR go to:
http://www.chnet-works.ca/index.php?option=com_comprofiler&task=registers&lang=en

If you already have an account log-on, or create an account with your email address and password.
When you have logged in, then select the May 4th event/ Fireside Chat and register.
An email with the details for the teleconference and webconference will be sent to your email address.

All Fireside Chat registrants are provided with access instructions via email imediately after registering on line and reminder emails sent just prior to the 'chat'.
Participants join in via teleconference and internet. All audio participation is by telephone. Visual presentation is by internet.

If you have any questions about registration - contact Dot Bonnenfant

Hello,

Which web link do I log into for the webinar? Is there a phone number to call in or will it all be online?

Thanks, Anitra Stevens

CDPAC Chronic Disease Prevention Series Webinar 1: Childhood Obesity Prevention: An example of a successful intervention from the U.S: Shape up Somerville

May 04, 01:00 - 02:30pm EDT

This Fireside Chat is hosted by Dot Bonnenfant and the Chronic Disease Prevention Alliance of Canada (CDPAC)

What is Shape up Somerville?
The Shape Up Somerville: Eat Smart. Play Hard intervention was led by Dr. Christina Economos and was funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the United States. It was a three year (2002-2005), environmental change intervention designed to prevent obesity in culturally diverse, high-risk, early-elementary school children.
The Shape Up team developed and implemented strategies designed to create energy balance for students in grades 1-3 in Somerville, Massachusetts.
Since 2005, the program has been carried on and expanded by the community.
This Fireside Chat will share the 10 year success story!

Topics to be discussed in this Fireside Chat:

*	Overview: History and format
*	Outcomes: Examining the results
*	Lessons learned: Improving physical activity options and healthy dietary choices for children

Hear from and Talk with an Expert: Dr. Christina D. Economos Dr. Economos is the Associate Director of the John Hancock Research Center on Physical Activity, Nutrition and Obesity Prevention, and an Associate Professor at the Gerald J. and Dorothy R. Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at the School of Medicine, Tufts University, and is also an Associate Professor of Public Health and Family Medicine at the School of Medicine, Tufts University.
