TOBACCO USE PREVENTION PROMOTER

The Regional Public Health Department, a Teaching Health Unit affiliated
with McMaster University and the University of Guelph, is recruiting for
the permanent position of Tobacco Use Prevention Promoter with the Healthy
Lifestyles Branch.

A Tobacco Use Prevention Promoter is needed to plan, develop, implement and
evaluate tobacco use prevention programs.  Applicants with a Master’s
Degree in Health Science, Health Promotion or related area; sound knowledge
of tobacco prevention, behaviour change theory, policy analysis and
development; with demonstrated competence in program planning and
evaluation, health promotion strategies, community mobilization, and
written verbal and mass media communication will be preferred.  Candidates
with a baccalaureate degree in health or applied sciences with 2 years
experience in health promotion, community mobilization, program planning,
implementation and evaluation and strong research and analytical skills
will also be considered.

For the first 1-2 years this position will be supporting tobacco control
bylaw implementation for each of the Municipalities within the Region.
Experience in this area, and knowledge of the literature about
Environmental Tobacco Smoke (ETS) and policy development are an asset.
Knowledge and experience with population-based smoking cessation strategies
are also an asset.

Salary based on $41,516.02 - $47,176.22 per annum (CUPE level 22) and an
attractive benefits package.
