HEALTH DEVELOPMENT AND PROJECTS MANAGER (Latin America)
------------------------------------------------------------
The International Health Unit (USI) of the Université de Montréal is 
responsible for promoting the University's competence in the health sector 
on the international scene.  For the past ten years, USI has been attending 
to the development of training institutions, ministries and health 
establishments on all continents.  Its activities include training, 
research, supplying of expertise (consultation) and support to the 
accomplishment of interventions in the health field.

We are seeking an experienced professional to reinforce our team and to 
contribute to our influence and development, particularly in Central and 
Latin America.  The candidate we are looking for must be a seasoned 
professional who has already made his/her mark in the field of 
international cooperation (health sector) and who is interested in 
participating to the influence of the University's international activities 
in this field.  His/her graduate studies should preferably be linked to the 
public health sector.

The candidate must be dynamic and able to work with a team.  He/she can act 
efficiently in developing new projects and cooperation activities and in 
participating to the accomplishment of some of them in his/her field of 
competency, either as a trainer or as a consultant.  The candidate must 
possess at least four (4) years of professional experience in the Latin-
American environment which will have allowed him/her to have a good 
knowledge of the methods and procedures of the sponsors intervening in this 
field.  He/she must have a broad knowledge of Central and Latin America's 
health problems as well as of the networks which needs to be mobilised.  

Fluency in French, Spanish and English is required and if possible, Portuguese.

are competitive and according to the candidate's qualifications.  The 
initial contract has a fixed-term of one year and is renewable.

The Fifth Canadian Conference on International Health

The Canadian Society for International Health invites you to attend the 5th 
Canadian Conference on International Health at the Palais des Congrès in 
Hull, Québec, from November 15-18, 1998. The conference theme "Partnerships 
for Health: A Work in Progress" will address topics including: health as a 
fundamental human right, food systems and health, measuring progress in 
health, health in emergency response, cultural issues and health programs, 

HIV issues, and the importance of trade and economic development in health. 
Highlights include:

Plenary speakers including: National Chief Phil Fontaine, Assembly of 
First Nations; 
Mrs. Margaret Catley-Carlson, President, Population Council; and 
Huguette Labelle, 
President, Canadian International Development Agency;

skills development workshops, breakfast sessions, and exhibits related 
to the field of health and development;
a workshop for students interested in pursuing a career in international 
health;
information sessions by the Pan American Health Organization and the
United Nations Population Fund;

Health Policy Analyst

PricewaterhouseCoopers is looking for an individual with the following
experience for a two year position in Guyana as part of a team for the 
Guyana-Health Sector Policy and Institutional Development Program.

Health Policy Analyst

1. Five years experience as a health policy advisor, or senior health 
official
with an in-depth understanding of health reform issues, including
institutional analysis, sustainable financing, management, program planning
and resource allocation.

2. Understanding of health systems decentralization and experience in
functional analysis of decentralized units, particularly related to the
management of financial and human resources.

3. Direct involvement in the implementation of primary care programs and
health care reforms.

4. Demonstrated leadership and communication skills. Experience in 
management
of international donor-funded technical cooperation programs a asset.

L'Unite de Sante Internationale (USI) de l'Universite de Montreal est 
chargee de promouvoir les competences du secteur de la sante de 
l'Universite sur la scene internationale. Depuis dix ans elle accompagne 
des institutions de formation, des ministeres et des etablissements de
sante dans leur developpement sur tous les continents. Nos activites 
internationales concernent  la formation,  la recherche,  la fourniture 
d'expertise (consultation) et l'appui à la réalisation d'interventions dans 
le champ de la sante.

Pour renforcer notre equipe, nous recherchons un professionnel d'experience 
pour contribuer a notre rayonnement et a notre developpement, 
particulierement en Ameriques centrale et latine. La personne recherchee 
est un-e professionnel-le de bon niveau qui a deja fait sa marque dans le 
domaine de la cooperation internationale (secteur sante) et qui est 
interessee a participer au rayonnement des activites internationales de 
l'Universite dans ce domaine. Ses etudes superieures sont de preference 
reliees au domaine de la sante publique . 

Dynamique, capable de travail en equipe, elle est a la fois en mesure 
d'agir efficacement dans le developpement de nouveaux projets et 
d'activites de cooperation et de participer a la realisation de certaines 
d'entre elles dans ses champs de compétence, soit comme formateur ou comme 
consultant. Ses experiences professionnelles d'au moins quatre ans en 
relation avec l'environnement latino-americain lui auront permis d'acquerir 
une bonne connaissance des pratiques et des procedures des bailleurs de 
fonds intervenant dans ce domaine. Elle a une bonne connaissance des 
problemes qui se posent en Ameriques centrale et latine dans le domaine de 
la sante ainsi que des reseaux mobilises pour y contribuer. Elle maitrise 
le français et l'espagnol et l'anglais et, si possible, le portugais. 
Nous offrons un environnement intellectuel stimulant, caracterise par le 
souci d'excellence et l'esprit d'equipe. La remuneration et les avantages

La 5ieme Conference canadienne sur la sante internationale

La Societe canadienne de sante internationale vous invite a assister a la 5e 
Conference canadienne sur la sante internationale au Palais des Congres de

est « Partenariats pour la sante : Une oeuvre en evolution », portera sur 
des sujets tels que : la sante, droit humain fondamental; systemes
