Nous l'Unite de sante internationale (USI) pour renforcer notre equipe, 
nous recherchons un professionnel d'experience pour contribuer a notre 
rayonnement et a notre developpement, particulierement en Ameriques 
centrale et latine. La personne recherchee est un-e professionnel-le de bon 
niveau qui a deja fait sa marque dans le domaine de la cooperation 
internationale (secteur sante) et qui est interessee a participer au 
rayonnement des activites internationales de l'Universite dans ce domaine. 
Ses etudes superieures sont de preference reliees au domaine de la sante 
publique . 

Dynamique, capable de travail en equipe, elle est a la fois en mesure 
d'agir efficacement dans le developpement de nouveaux projets et 
d'activites de cooperation et de participer a la realisation de certaines 
d'entre elles dans ses champs de competence, soit comme formateur ou comme 
consultant. Ses experiences professionnelles d'au moins quatre ans en 
relation avec l'environnement latino-americain lui auront permis d'acquerir 
une bonne connaissance des pratiques et des procedures des bailleurs de 
fonds intervenant dans ce domaine. Elle a une bonne connaissance des 
problemes qui se posent en Ameriques centrale et latine dans le domaine de 
la sante ainsi que des reseaux mobilises pour y contribuer. Elle maitrise 
le francais et l'espagnol et l'anglais et, si possible, le portugais.

Initiative canadienne d'immunisation internationale - Mandats a court terme
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
L'Association canadienne de sante publique (ACSP) a conclu avec le 
gouvernement du Canada un marche visant la mise en oeuvre du volet 
d'assistance technique de la nouvelle Initiative canadienne d'immunisation 
internationale (ICII). En vertu de cette initiative, l'ACSP doit trouver et 
recruter des conseillers techniques canadiens qui aideront l'Organisation 
mondiale de la Sante (OMS) et l'UNICEF a renforcer les systemes nationaux 
de vaccination des enfants en vue d'eradiquer la polio, d'eliminer la 
rougeole et de combattre les maladies infantiles dans les pays en 
développement, en Europe de l'Est et en Europe centrale. L'ICII, a laquelle 
se sont associes l'Agence canadienne de developpement international, 
l'ACSP, UNICEF Canada, l'OMS, les membres canadiens des clubs Rotary et 
d'autres ONG canadiennes, renouvelle l'engagement international du 
gouvernement canadien envers l'une des mesures de sante publique les plus 
rentables qui soient : la vaccination des enfants.

Forte des nombreuses leçons tirees de son experience aux premieres lignes 
des efforts de renforcement des programmes de vaccination dans les pays en 
developpement, l'ACSP compte trouver parmi ses membres et dans la 
collectivite canadienne de la sante publique en general des specialistes 
qui s'acquitteront de mandats a court terme aupres de l'OMS et de l'UNICEF. 
Ces mandats, dont la duree pourra varier de deux semaines a plusieurs mois, 
visent a offrir une assistance dans certains domaines : la surveillance des 
maladies, la planification et l'execution des programmes, le 
perfectionnement des ressources humaines, la gestion des vaccins et le 
renforcement des laboratoires. Le programme pourrait eventuellement faire 
appel a d'autres volets du savoir-faire canadien.

l'Organisation mondiale de la sante - Epidemiologistes - Trois postes
Republique du Tchad, Republique democratique du Congo, et Inde

Avec l'appui financier de l'initiative canadienne d'immunisation 
internationale (ICII), les details en haut, l'Organisation mondiale de la 
sante souhaite recruter trois epidemiologistes pour travailler a Kinshasa, 
en Republique democratique du Congo, a N'djamena, en Republique du Tchad, 
et New Delhi, Inde.  Pour chacun des trois postes, l'epidemiologiste sert 
de conseiller technique au Programme elargi de vaccination (PEV). Il a pour 
fonctions d'appuyer les efforts deployes pour eradiquer la polio, eliminer 
le tetanos neonatal et lutter contre la rougeole en cooperant avec le 
personnel du pays/region charge des activites de vaccination systematique 
et complementaire, ainsi que de la surveillance des maladies. 
L'epidemiologiste collabore avec les gestionnaires du PEV pour coordonner 
l'aide financiere des donateurs, la formation, la supervision et 
l'evaluation des agents regionaux du PEV et du personnel de district; et 
pour planifier, suivre et rendre compte des activites du programme. Enfin, 
l'epidemiologiste apporte son aide au suivi de l'appui des laboratoires.
Les candidats doivent :
etre titulaire d'un diplome en medecine ou avoir suivi une formation 
superieure, au niveau du doctorat, en sante publique ou en ) and who is interested in 
participating to the influence of the University's international activities 
in this field.  His/her graduate studies should preferably be linked to the 
public health sector.

The candidate must be dynamic and able to work with a team.  He/she can act 
efficiently in developing new projects and cooperation activities and in 
participating to the accomplishment of some of them in his/her field of 
competency, either as a trainer or as a consultant.  The candidate must 
possess at least four (4) years of professional experience in the Latin-
American environment which will have allowed him/her to have a good 
knowledge of the methods and procedures of the sponsors intervening in this 
field.  He/she must have a broad knowledge of Central and Latin America's 
health problems as well as of the networks which needs to be mobilised.  
Fluency in French, Spanish and English is required and if possible, 
Portuguese.

Canadian International Immunization Initiative - Short Term Assignments

The Canadian Public Health Association (CPHA) has been contracted by the 
Government of Canada to implement the technical assistance component of the 
new Canadian International Immunization Initiative (CIII).  Through this 
Initiative, CPHA will identify and recruit Canadian technical consultants 
to assist the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF strengthen 
national childhood immunization systems to work towards polio eradication, 
the elimination of measles and the combating of childhood diseases in 
developing countries and in Eastern and Central Europe.  The CIII, a 
partnership between the Canadian International Development Agency, CPHA, 
UNICEF Canada, WHO,  Canadian Rotarians, and other collaborating Canadian 
NGOs, renews the Canadian Government's international commitment to one of 
the most cost-effective public health measures - childhood immunization.

Building on the many lessons learned from CPHA's experience working at the 
forefront of strengthening immunization programmes in developing countries, 
CPHA is reaching out to the Canadian public health community to identify 
expertise to fulfill short term assignments with WHO and UNICEF.  These 
assignments may vary from 2 weeks to several months and will be directed 
towards specific assistance in areas of disease surveillance, programme 
planning and delivery, human resource development, vaccine management, and 
laboratory strengthening.  There may also be other areas of Canadian 
expertise which will emerge as the program develops.

World Health Organization - Epidemiologists - Three Positions-The Republic 
of Chad, Democratic Republic of Congo, and the WHO Regional Office for 
South-East Asia (based in India)

With support from the Canadian International Immunization Initiative 
(CIII), as described above, the World Health Organization is recruiting for 
three epidemiologists for work based in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of 
Congo, N'djamena, the Republic of Chad, and New Delhi, India.  In all 
positions the Country Epidemiologist serves as the Technical Adviser to the 
Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI).  The positions support efforts 
towards polio eradication, neonatal tetanus elimination, and measles 
control, through cooperation with national staff in charge of routine and 
supplementary immunization activities, and disease surveillance.  The 
positions cooperate with the national EPI managers in coordinating donor 
support, training, supervising and evaluating country regional EPI officers 
and district staff; and in planning, monitoring, and reporting programme 
activities.  Lastly, the positions assist in monitoring laboratory support.

Candidates must possess: 
a medical degree or doctorate level postgraduate training in public health or epidemiology;
.       technical expertise in public health, epidemiology, disease control and 
immunization;
.       ability to design studies, analyze data and write concise reports;
.       ability to effectively monitor progress, analyze data and present 
results;
.       at least three years international public health experience in planning, 
training, surveillance and implementation of EPI;
.       ability to work effectively with colleagues at national level; and,
.       fluency in French with working knowledge in English (Chad and 
Congo)/fluency in English (India)       .
