Influencing Public Policy in Population, Reproductive Health and Development
Friday, December 11, 1998
7:30 p.m.
YWCA
4th Floor, 535 Hornby Street

The B.C. Centre of Excellence for Women's Health, the Sustainable
Development Research Institute at UBC, the Institute for Resources and
Environment at UBC and Action Canada for Population and Development
(ACPD) are pleased to host a public discussion designed to

(1) discuss the progress made since the International Conference on
Population and Development (Cairo, 1994) and

(2) influence the shaping of Canada's position for the UN
review process taking place in 1999 (Cairo+5).

In particular, the Canadian review process will consider four areas:

--Population and Sustainable Development
--International Migration
--Health and Mortality
--Reproductive Health and Rights

A group of experts working in each of these areas will be developing a
series of recommendations to the Canadian government in hopes of
strengthening Canada's position during the UN Cairo+5 review process next
year. You are invited to participate in the public forum where these
recommendations will be discussed and you will have an opportunity to
express your views.
