Just in time for the International Union of Health Promoters & Educators
conference in Paris, there has been a very unfortunate 'take-over' of the
website of the Internet Journal of Health Promotion.
Please avoid going to that website as it goes into a pornography site and
does not 'let you out' very easily. It takes repeated shut-downs of your
browser to get out of site. The IJHP appears to have been highjacked by
gweekly.com
The IJHP has been based at Monash University in Australia for more than 5
years, and recently acquired a separate domain name. However, a look
through WHOIS [http://www.networksolutions.com/cgi-bin/whois/whois] found a
new contact name as being located in Yerevan, Armenia, with a large 'Buy
This Domain' after his name. It appears that the IJHP folks did not renew
their domain name registration in June 2001 and it was taken over, or 'held
hostage' for someone to buy it. Until they (IJHP folks) can take some action
to get control over their website, it would be best to avoid going to that
link.
The Ontario Health Promotion Email Bulletin has removed all links to the
IJHP from it's past issues available on the Internet at http://www.ohpe.ca
It takes longer to take down all the links to IJHP from our various
organizations.
