Those of you who are particularly concerned about the fight against tobacco
may be interested to know about INGCAT, the international non governmental
coalition against tobacco. A number of national and international NGOs, in a
desire to react to the international aspect of the fight against the
manipulation and deception that incite people to begin to use tobacco, and
to help low-income countries to protect themselves from these practices,
have decided to join together to try to influence international response to
opening of new markets and promotion tactics for a product that the
manufacturers themselves know to be toxic and dependence -producing for its
users. The INGCAT currently counts 11 member oganisations.
For more information, please contact
Karen Slama, Ph.D., INGCAT, 68 boulevard Saint-Michel, 75006 Paris, France ;
