UNIFEM Videoconference to End Violence Against Women
From: End-Violence Moderator <[log in to unmask]>

JOIN A LANDMARK EVENT TO END VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN!

"A WORLD FREE OF VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN"

On March 8, 1999, the United Nations Development Fund for Women
(UNIFEM), in collaboration with other UN agencies, will host "A
World Free of Violence Against Women," a global multimedia event to
end violence against women. Live, two-way video will link human
rights activists in India, Kenya and Mexico with UN decision-makers,
government representatives, academics, and media representatives.
Together, they will discuss critical policy directions, steps that
must be taken, and successful actions in eradicating violence
against women.

By joining this global meeting as part of the "viewing gallery," you
can participate in this unique policy-making process. Your presence
as observer sends a message to UN decision-makers about your belief
in the importance of ending violence against women. You also gain a
ringside seat to a rare interaction between those working "on the
ground" and those who affect the national and international
political and economic support for a world free of violence against
women. This is a rare opportunity for all students and advocates of
human rights, public health, women's issues, and social justice.

The event will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Eastern Standard
Time. You can join as an observer by using one of three options:
videoconferencing, the World Wide Web, or downlink a satellite
broadcast.
